the site is dedicated to people and their opensource projects - it is based on the observation that many homepage freespace providers do not match the needs of opensource programmers to publish their patches, info sheets, shell scripts and quick-n-dirty tarballs and rpms. Here one can upload them for public review and free (re)usage and have them at the same time combined in a place that is strongly connected with its author - no need to abuse university pages or those of your company even that the tasks have nothing to do with your life there :-) - oh, you surely want a to put up a small personal info sheet here to inform about yourself and what brought you to SourceForge/FreeSpace giving you space for the free computer things of yours.

do you have some one-stop project and can not find a place where to put it up? then you have found a good place, and I do not need to run this site exclusively...
